Get ready for live music at the Langani jewelry factory!
A few days before the Nachtsicht Festival, we’re kicking things off with a teaser event featuring three shows in collaboration with musician Paul Abbrecht.
We’re thrilled to announce that Kohhan Ohtake from Tokyo will perform with electric guitar and synthesizer, Nonorisk Akatsuki will take us to our limits of sensory overload with a drum kit, and Killing H8, a rap duo from New York City, will be there as well!

2017–Festival
Bright dots flicker around us and we see without correlation. After a shimmering bright day, we dive into the night and see nothing. We massage our eyes gently and concentrate on the outlines that emerge from the darkness. Day and night, light and dark, tired and awake. Again and again, we question our relationship with our surroundings, ourselves, and reorient. The transitions are fluid, everything is in motion. At the Nachtsicht Festival over two days and nights we want to explore, discuss, and celebrate this constant movement.

Former Langani Jewelry Factory, Stuttgart East
interim use of the vacant space: 6 weeks
On Friday and Saturday, June 2 and 3, 2017, the first Nachtsicht Festival takes place in the former Langani jewelry factory. Six weeks in advance, the team and artists move into the vacant space, developing site-specific artistic works, rehearsing music performances, and redesigning the interior and exterior spaces. Peter Kosock paints an oversized fantastic figure transforming the house façade. Marie-Louise Mayer transforms an entire room, including its floor and ceiling, into a gigantic canvas for her fragmentarily exuberantly growing paintings.
Pupils are invited to an illustration workshop, and the Female Fellows group meets in the courtyard for street dancing and communal pizza making. Julian Knoth and Lubu Beatz bring their project collaboration to the stage. Lubu Beatz performs for the first time with a live band. Music academy students bring you puppet theatre and there is a vinyl record session in the courtyard. For your ears, we have Perigon with pop sounds and Komfortrauschen with techno beats. The mobile bar Stiege 4 serves refreshing drinks, and Essenswelten takes care of our bellies with delicious east asian street food. Cellist Céline Papillon and actress Franziska Schmitz developed a sound piece that does not rely on the capacity of sight. Our small movie theatre runs 16 short and feature-length films throughout the festival. Midnight readings transport us to another time before we dance to pulsating DJ sets and forget/transcend time altogether.
